Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) NYC Metro. Owen Consulting conducted a robust statistical evaluation for the New York Office of the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) designed to examine academic outcomes for students enrolled in its high school programs. The study relied on an advanced Propensity Score Matching technique to control for possible pre-existing differences between NFTE and non-NFTE students. The four outcome variables upon which comparisons were made were scores on the Math Regents exam, scores on the English Regents exam, days absent and credit accumulation (believed to be a proxy for progress towards graduation).  Overall, the study’s findings suggested that participation in well‐implemented NFTE programming contributed to positive academic outcomes. Students in the NFTE Program scored higher on the Math Regents, had better attendance, and accumulated credits at a slightly higher rate than non-NFTE students in the control group.
